The United Kingdom Minifootball Association is delighted to announce that Ben Long is the new England captain.

Ben, who made his debut in the friendly with Bulgaria last February, was chosen for the role by the Executive board after performing with distinction throughout the last 18 months.

Welcoming Ben to the role today, UKMA National Team’s Director Pete Mitchell said that the honour was richly deserved: “Ben was the outstanding and overwhelming candidate for the role and unanimous choice of the Executive. His conduct both on and off the pitch was exemplary and we are confident that he is the right man to lead the team forward.”

Ben will be the skipper as the England team look to improve on the quarter final finish in the miniEURO2014 Championships later in the year and will also be at the UK 6 a side championships which is held in Birmingham in June.

There will be a more in-depth interview with Ben in the next few weeks.
